i get a lot of people asking me how i had come up with the name august skies, so i'm going to tell you, right here, right now.
one calm summer evening, my friend and i were hanging out and the colors of the sky were seeping all over the room, orange hues, purples, pinks. and they said to me, "there is just something about august skies, they're so undeniably beautiful, and nostalgic." in that moment i let the comment slip by, but in the days, and weeks to follow all i kept thinking about was "august skies" and even though i had already had a name for my business picked out, this one was just screaming at me, and i couldn't let it rest. so it stuck.

august is also a very special month for me because its my grandmas birthday, which also happens to be the same day as my birthday. so every year her and i get to celebrate together and it makes having a summer birthday that much more freaking amazing. growing up on a lake, we always had killer birthday celebrations, and killer sunsets. so if you know me, you know that's where my eye for photography definitely stemmed from.

when im not working behind the camera, i often find myself infront of the camera, creating my next self portrait piece, me + my camera spend a lot of time together! But when we dont, im normally thrifting to fulfill my next DIY project, or curled up in bed with some ice cream next to my boyfriend. I often enjoy the little things in life, and try to capture life as it comes, and as it goes.
